Uniting the Community Through Sports and Service: The Story of SuperiorS

By Liel Agajan

Hi, my name is Liel Agajan, and I’m an incoming junior at The Wheatley School in Old Westbury. Over the past few months, I founded an organization called SuperiorS, short for Superior Sports. What began as a simple sports media page quickly evolved into something much more impactful—an effort to bring our community together through sports and charity-driven events.

Our mission is to use the power of sports to support meaningful causes while fostering unity across neighborhoods. We started by volunteering at local games and soon began organizing our own events to raise money and awareness for charities close to our hearts.

Our first tournament, held on June 6 at Donald Street Park, supported individuals affected by lung diseases through the American Lung Association. This cause is especially personal to me, as my family has been impacted by lung disease. We charged a $10 entry fee, promoted the event through our Instagram page (@superiors_org), and raised over $610. We offered free food and drinks, and the day turned out to be a huge success for both fundraising and community spirit.

Our second event, on July 10—also at Donald Street Park—was even bigger. We raised $800 for the Wounded Warrior Project, an organization that supports U.S. veterans and their families. This cause is meaningful to me as both of my grandparents proudly served in the military. Once again, we used Instagram to promote the event and were proud to bring together an even more diverse crowd.

As we continue to grow, we hope you’ll be part of the journey. You can support SuperiorS by following us on Instagram (@superiors_org), spreading the word, donating, or attending one of our upcoming events. Thank you so much for helping us make a difference—one game at a time.
