The Williston Park Little League Challenger Division is for boys and girls ages 4 to 10 years old with physical and mental disabilities to learn how to play baseball.

The Challenger Division is in its third year, thanks to the support from the Williston Park Little League and this year’s team sponsor, BRENDOS.

This spring ten kids from our community participated in the Challenger Division. On Sunday mornings from April through June, at Kelleher Baseball Field in Williston Park, these special kids rotated through different stations where they learned various baseball skills such as swinging a baseball bat, throwing a ball, fielding a ball and running the bases.

Running the bases was definitely the most popular station this spring and left the volunteers very tired at the end of each session.

This program would not be able to run each Sunday morning without the help of a dedicated group of youth and adult volunteers. The youth volunteers ranged in age from third to eleventh grade.

These volunteers spread their love of baseball each week and teach that baseball is for everyone.
