East Williston Women’s Softball League Celebrates 10 Years of Friendship, Fun and Community

This summer marked a special milestone for a beloved East Williston tradition, as the East Williston Women’s Softball League celebrated its 10th anniversary on Aug. 11.

What began a decade ago as a way to bring local women together has grown into much more than a summer sports league. Over the years, it has become a place where women of all ages and skill levels can step onto the field, compete, reconnect with old friends, make new ones and, most importantly, have fun.

At the heart of the league are organizers Tracy Sparacia and Marisa Reichman, whose dedication and enthusiasm have helped turn the league into a much-loved summer tradition.

“What started as a way to bring women in our community together has grown into a summer tradition filled with friendship, competition, laughter and countless memories,” said Sparacia. “Whether you joined us this season or have been playing since the beginning, each of you has helped make the East Williston Women’s Softball League what it is today.”

Over the last decade, Sparacia and Reichman have created a welcoming place where women can enjoy friendly competition while building friendships off the field as well. Some players have been part of the league since its earliest days, while others have joined along the way, but each has contributed to the spirit that has kept the league going for 10 summers.

For the organizers, the anniversary is a celebration of everyone who has been part of that journey.

“We are so grateful for the energy, enthusiasm and dedication that continue to make this league such a special part of our community,” Reichman said. “Here’s to 10 amazing years—and many more summers of softball, friendship and fun to come!”

The league has also created connections among women whose lives might not otherwise regularly cross.

“Playing women’s softball over the summer has become such a special way for me to connect with women I don’t normally get to see throughout the year,” said Michelle Cavallaro. “Some have children who are older or younger and attend different schools, while others have kids who have already grown and moved on from the school years. No matter where we are in life, softball brings us together each summer.”

And while there are certainly wins, losses and plenty of competitive moments, longtime players and brand new ones all say what happens beyond the scoreboard may be what matters most.

“We may have come to play softball, but it turns out the best part of the whole experience wasn’t the score—it was the quirky ladies, the endless laughs, and realizing we’re all still kids when we step onto that field,” said Laura Abramov. “Definitely a summer to remember, and here’s to many more seasons ahead!”

After a decade of games, friendships and countless memories, the East Williston Women’s Softball League is still going strong—a testament to the simple power of bringing people together, having fun and playing ball.
