Lights, Colors and Culture: Diwali Fest for Kids Comes to East Williston
By Williston Post Staff
The East Williston Library is bringing the joy, color and traditions of Diwali to the community with a special Diwali Fest for Kids on Sunday, October 18, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Known as the Festival of Lights, Diwali is one of India's most celebrated holidays, symbolizing the triumph of light over darkness, good over evil and the importance of kindness, hope and new beginnings.
The family-friendly celebration will introduce children to the beauty of Diwali through an exciting mix of hands-on activities, arts, crafts and cultural experiences. Young participants can enjoy traditional henna designs, colorful Diwali-inspired crafts, coloring activities, friendship bracelet making and more. The event will also feature performances, offering families a chance to experience the festive spirit of this cherished holiday.
More than just a celebration, Diwali Fest for Kids is an opportunity to bring families and neighbors together, share cultural traditions and encourage children to learn about and appreciate the diverse backgrounds that make the East Williston community special.
Children of all ages are welcome, with activities geared toward preschoolers through middle school students. Whether families celebrate Diwali every year or are discovering the holiday for the first time, everyone is invited to join in the festivities.
The cost is $10 per child, and families are encouraged to register and pay in advance at the East Williston Library. Walk-ins will be welcome if space permits. Parents or guardians must remain with their children, as this is not a drop-off event.
Come celebrate the Festival of Lights with creativity, friendship and community spirit. It's a wonderful opportunity for children to make memories, learn something new and experience the joy of Diwali together!
