By Williston Post Staff
Willets Road School sixth grader Katelyn Chu has been recognized for her artistic talent and civic awareness, earning a Certificate of Recognition in the Suffolk County Bar Association's 2026 Law Day Poster Contest.
The annual contest encourages students to explore important civic concepts through creative expression. This year's theme, "The Rule of Law and the American Dream," challenged participants to reflect on how laws, justice, and equal rights help individuals pursue their goals and opportunities in America.
Through her artwork, Katelyn thoughtfully interpreted the theme, demonstrating both creativity and an understanding of the values that help shape society. Her recognition highlights the role that art can play in encouraging students to engage with meaningful real-world issues while developing their own perspectives and voices.
As part of the honor, Katelyn's artwork is currently on display at the Suffolk County Bar Association.
The achievement reflects East Williston's continued commitment to fostering creativity, critical thinking, and civic engagement among its students. By participating in programs such as the Law Day Poster Contest, students are encouraged to connect classroom learning with broader community and civic ideals.
Congratulations to Katelyn on this well-deserved recognition and for representing the East Williston community with creativity and excellence.
