Mineola Public Schools is celebrating Jackson Avenue School STEAM teacher Christina Sotsky, who has received the prestigious NASTAR Award from Nassau BOCES and the Nassau Association of School Technologists for her innovation and leadership in educational technology.

Sotsky is recognized for creating hands-on learning experiences that empower students to become creators and problem-solvers through technology. She also collaborates across the district on projects ranging from environmental initiatives to engineering partnerships while sharing her expertise with educators at local technology conferences.

"Christina doesn't just teach technology; she uses it to instill confidence and cultivate genuine student ownership," said Jackson Avenue Principal Catherine Shanahan.

Sotsky began her career in Mineola Public Schools 11 years ago as a substitute teacher and has since become a leader in educational technology, inspiring students and staff throughout the district.
