Students at Jackson Avenue School and Mineola High School recently came together to make a meaningful impact on their community through a student-led fundraising effort benefiting the Mary Brennan INN Soup Kitchen.

Members of the Joy Club, a student-founded and student-led organization at Jackson Avenue School, partnered with the Student Service Center at Mineola High School to organize the "Making Change" fundraiser. The initiative encouraged students and staff throughout the school to donate spare change in support of individuals and families facing food insecurity on Long Island.

Thanks to the generosity of the school community and the hard work of the student organizers, the fundraiser collected more than $700 in coins. The donation will be combined with proceeds from the Mineola High School Student Service Center's annual MINNeola Macaroni Night and presented to the Mary Brennan INN.

To celebrate the success of the fundraiser, Joy Club members presented a ceremonial check, along with the funds raised, to representatives from the Student Service Center. The event highlighted the power of service, teamwork, and collaboration between students of different ages working toward a common goal.

The Mary Brennan INN provides meals, shelter, and a variety of support services to individuals and families in need throughout Long Island. Through their efforts, the students demonstrated how even small acts of generosity can make a meaningful difference in the lives of others.

The fundraiser served as a powerful reminder that when students come together to help their community, they can create a lasting impact and embody what it means to be #MineolaProud.
