Mineola High School has announced Eliana Lee as valedictorian and Lowry Liu as salutatorian of the Class of 2027, recognizing their outstanding academic achievements, leadership and commitment to community service.

Valedictorian Eliana Lee is a National Merit Commended Student and member of several academic honor societies. As president of the school's HOSA Future Healthcare Professionals chapter, she has earned top honors at state competitions. An accomplished student researcher, Lee has received awards for her work in environmental science, plastic biodegradation and antimicrobial resistance, including recognition from the Long Island Science Congress. She has also presented research internationally in South Korea. Outside the classroom, she works as a pharmacy technician and volunteers in NYU Langone Hospital's oncology unit. She plans to pursue a career as a physician assistant.

Salutatorian Lowry Liu, also a National Merit Commended Student, has demonstrated leadership through Key Club, HOSA and the Student Service Center. He co-founded Built4Joy, a nonprofit providing custom-designed LEGO-style bricks to pediatric patients, which has expanded nationally and reached thousands of children. Liu has also earned recognition for scientific research exploring the anti-inflammatory properties of traditional Chinese medicines. He plans to study biochemistry before attending medical school and pursuing medical research.

"Eliana and Lowry exemplify the dedication, curiosity and leadership that define the Mineola High School Class of 2027," said Principal Rory Parnell. "They have challenged themselves academically while making meaningful contributions to our school and community."

The district congratulates both students on their achievements and wishes them continued success.
