Mineola Public Schools proudly announced the top two students of the Mineola High School Class of 2026 — valedictorian Leah Anzalone and salutatorian Justin Spera. Both students exemplify academic excellence, leadership, and a deep commitment to their school and community.
Throughout her high school years, Leah Anzalone has demonstrated outstanding achievement in and out of the classroom. A National Merit Commended Student and AP Scholar with Distinction, Leah has consistently earned placement on the High Honor Roll. She has also made her mark as a leader, serving as president of the Thespian Honor Society, treasurer of Student Council, and section leader of the award-winning marching band. Beyond her academic and artistic pursuits, Leah gives back to the community by volunteering as a counselor at the Mineola Summer Arts Camp, mentoring younger students in drama productions, and supporting local athletic programs. Her dedication to learning, leadership, and service reflects the very best of Mineola High School.
Salutatorian Justin Spera has likewise distinguished himself through academic rigor and community service. A High Honor Roll student and recipient of multiple awards—including the SHIELD Award, the President’s Gold Volunteer Service Award, and recognition as a national semifinalist in FIRST Robotics—Justin has excelled in challenging coursework such as AP Calculus BC, Chemistry, Computer Science, and English Literature. His compassion and initiative extend beyond the classroom: Justin has helped raise more than $30,000 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and has led charitable efforts to support children battling cancer. His achievements showcase a rare blend of intellect, empathy, and leadership that will leave a lasting legacy at Mineola High School.
Mineola School District congratulates Leah and Justin on their remarkable accomplishments and wishes them continued success as they prepare for the next chapter of their academic journeys.
