Herricks High School announced that science teacher Sandra Hart was selected by the Science Teachers Association of New York State as the 2025 STANYS Fellows New Teacher Award recipient.

Ms. Hart received the honor at the 130th Annual STANYS Conference, themed “Sense Making, Making Connections,” which took place in Syracuse, New York, from November 7–10. Established in 1992 by the STANYS Fellows Endowment Fund, the award supports second- through fifth-year teachers by providing opportunities to attend the annual conference and further their professional development.

During the conference, Ms. Hart collaborated and networked with educators from across New York State, participated in sessions focused on the new NGSS standards, explored upcoming science investigations, and gained insights to strengthen her classroom instruction.

“I feel truly honored to receive the STANYS Fellows New Teacher Award,” Ms. Hart said. “The knowledge gained from attending conferences will help shape and encourage so many promising young minds. Collaboration among educators is integral to professional growth.”

Herricks Public Schools congratulated Ms. Hart on this well-deserved recognition and celebrated her continued dedication to inspiring the next generation of scientists.
