At its December 18 meeting, the Mineola Board of Education proudly recognized the outstanding students of the Mineola High School Class of 2026 Physical Education Leadership Program.

Guided by physical education teacher Hilary Hunter, the students committed two years to developing leadership skills while serving as positive role models within the school community. Chosen through a competitive selection process during their sophomore year, participants completed an intensive leadership training course as juniors.

In their senior year, the students applied those skills by serving as assistant physical education teachers for underclassmen. Their responsibilities included leading warm-ups, organizing group activities, and supporting daily class routines—helping to foster an inclusive and engaging learning environment.

The district praised the students for their dedication, teamwork, and commitment, noting the lasting impact they made on both the physical education program and the broader school community. The Mineola Public Schools congratulated the Class of 2026 physical education leaders on their well-earned recognition.
