Herricks Idol Celebrates 21st Season with Talent, Laughter, and Community Spirit

By Dianne Noh

On March 28th, Herricks High School’s Tri-M Music Honor Society proudly hosted the 21st annual season of Herricks Idol. Inspired by American Idol, this beloved tradition invites high school students to compete for the coveted title of Herricks Idol champion.

This year’s show featured ten talented contestants, spanning all grade levels: Aaizah Lakhani, Aashna Venkatesh, Ashley Paris, Claud Tung, Madelyn Glennon, Maxwell Yang, Nathan Nebu, Nick Brosky, Priyanka Samuel, and Vasili Dallas. Fully student-led, the event was energized by dynamic emcees Krish Maheshwari and Sharath Venkatesan.

Behind the scenes, a dedicated team—including the Tri-M Board and members, the house band, vocal teacher, music department, and judges—worked tirelessly to make the evening a success and uphold the spirit of this cherished tradition.

This year’s judging panel added a playful twist, featuring two retiring faculty members from outside the music department: Athletic Director Mr. James Petricca and Assistant Principal Mr. Andrew Frisone. Their light-hearted commentary brought laughter and levity to the evening. They were joined by Ms. Eva Eng, rounding out the panel.

While all contestants delivered exceptional performances, the title of Herricks Idol was shared by Madelyn Glennon and Claud Tung, who described the experience as a “truly unforgettable moment.” The duo will return as guest performers next year, following in the footsteps of this year’s alumni guests: Rohan Nair, Eli Jacobs, and Megan Lau.

Congratulations to all who participated! We look forward to another incredible season next year filled with talent, joy, and the unmistakable spirit of Herricks Idol.
