Herricks Science Research Scholars Earn Top Honors at State Competition

Herricks High School’s science research scholars made an impressive showing at the New York State Science and Engineering Fair (NYSSEF), held at the New York Hall of Science, earning a total of eight awards for their outstanding research.

Ashna Muni took first place in the Biomedical and Health Sciences category, securing a coveted spot at the International Science and Engineering Fair this May.

Second place awards went to Caitlin Lee for her Microbiology project and Hallie Lee for her work in Biomedical Engineering.

Students who earned Honorable Mention for their innovative work include:

  • Sandeep Sawhney (Biomedical Engineering)

  • Nikita Kumar (Computational Biology)

  • Aarthi Palaniappan (Computational Biology)

  • Serena Chen (Cellular and Molecular Biology)

  • Emma Su (Biomedical Engineering)
