Local residents have a chance to experience the creativity and talent of Herricks High School students through a new mixed-media art exhibition now on display at Humble Café in Williston Park.

Created by students in the Herricks High School Student Theater Arts Company (STAC), the exhibition features an engaging collection of black-and-white street photography, watercolor paintings, and intricate paper quilling artwork. The showcase highlights not only the students' artistic abilities but also the collaborative process behind curating and presenting a public gallery.

The photography collection stems from a STAC academic field trip to New York City, where students captured images reflecting the energy and character of urban life. Back in the classroom, students analyzed their work and applied Gestalt principles of visual perception to organize the pieces into a thoughtfully designed exhibition.

In addition to displaying their artwork, students gained valuable hands-on experience in gallery curation, layout design, and installation. By combining multiple artistic mediums into a cohesive exhibit, the project offered a unique opportunity to explore both creative expression and the practical aspects of presenting art to the public.

The exhibition is open to the community and will remain on display at Humble Café through June 21 during regular business hours.

Residents are encouraged to stop by, support these talented young artists, and enjoy a showcase that celebrates creativity, collaboration, and the arts.
