Mineola Public Schools is proud to congratulate five high school student musicians who have been selected to participate in the 2025 New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA) All-State Music Festival, which will take place Dec. 4–7 in Rochester.

Representing Mineola in the Treble Chorus will be vocalist Sarah Geoghan (Soprano 1). Vocalists Sienna Marcial (Alto 2) and Leah Anzalone (Soprano 1) were selected as alternates. Instrumentalists include Shayan Dhar, who will perform on Jazz Tenor Saxophone with the Instrumental Jazz Ensemble and was also selected as an alternate for Jazz Baritone Saxophone, and Igor DeSouza, who was chosen as an alternate for Jazz Drum Set.

Each year, more than 6,000 sophomores and juniors audition for All-State, with only about 600 students accepted statewide. To qualify, students must earn a perfect score during a rigorous audition that includes a solo performance, 13 scales, and a sight-reading exam.

At the festival, Mineola’s talented learners will rehearse and perform under the direction of nationally recognized conductors alongside students from across New York State—an unparalleled opportunity to learn, collaborate, and celebrate music at the highest level.
