East Williston Students Earn Honors in Long Island Language Teachers Poster Contest
By Williston Post Staff
Several East Williston students have been recognized for their creativity and language-learning achievements in this year's Long Island Language Teachers (LILT) Poster Contest.
The annual contest invites students from across Nassau and Suffolk counties to create original artwork inspired by a theme celebrating world languages and cultures. This year's theme, "Traditions Through Language," challenged students to explore how language helps preserve and share cultural traditions.
Representing East Williston were Hazel Lau, Rabia Hassan, Lillian Cheung, Aanya Palilla, Sophie Kwon, and Victoria Viti, each showcasing their artistic talents and appreciation for language and culture.
Among the participants, Lillian Cheung earned top honors, placing first across all of Long Island in the 7th- through 9th-grade division.
The Long Island Language Teachers organization is dedicated to promoting excellence in world language education and encouraging students to deepen their understanding of languages and cultures from around the world. Through programs such as the annual poster contest, LILT celebrates students' enthusiasm, creativity, and commitment to language learning.
East Williston students have a long history of success in LILT-sponsored programs, reflecting the district's strong commitment to world language education.
The district also extended its appreciation to world language teacher Ms. Campagnoli-Kearney for her continued dedication to inspiring students and encouraging them to participate in enriching opportunities that celebrate language, culture, and creativity.
