Herricks Students Win Big at National Math Competition

Two talented seventh graders from Herricks Middle School recently brought home top honors from the 2025 National MathCON Finals, one of the most prestigious mathematics competitions in North America.

Alan Ji and Gavin Jiang were selected as finalists from a pool of more than 31,000 students across the country. The national finals were held in Chicago, where the brightest young mathematicians gathered to put their skills to the test.

Alan earned a gold medal and secured an impressive #2 ranking nationwide, while Gavin took home a bronze medal—both remarkable achievements in a highly competitive field.

The Herricks School District proudly congratulates Alan and Gavin on their success and commends their dedication, hard work, and love for learning. Their accomplishments are a testament to the strength of the district’s math program and the support of their teachers and families.
