East Williston Women’s Softball League Wraps Up Ninth Season with Community Spirit
By Tracy Sparacia, Marisa Reichman
The East Williston Women’s Summer Softball League has just closed out its ninth successful season, and the excitement is already building for a milestone year ahead—its 10th anniversary in 2026.
This summer, nearly 80 women across six teams came together to play at North Side and Devlin/Sagamore fields over the course of eight weeks. While the games brought plenty of hits, runs, and close plays, the true highlight was the camaraderie. Organizers Tracy Sparacia and Marisa Reichman introduced a new tradition this year—ordering food after each game—which gave players a chance to unwind, connect, and celebrate the fun of being part of something bigger than the score.
The season wrapped up with a festive end-of-season celebration featuring food from local eateries, marking not only the close of another season but also the bonds built along the way.
For many players, the league is more than just a summer activity—it’s a cherished tradition. “This has been the most exciting event that I’ve been involved with in the community,” shared Bernadette Quinn. “What Tracy and Marisa have created has become the highlight of my summer. Their dedication has turned a simple idea into an amazing community event that so many of us look forward to each year.”
That feeling of connection extends beyond the players themselves. Kevin Wong, who has coached in the league for two years, reflected on the rewarding experience: “Coaching in the East Williston Women’s Softball League has been such a fun and rewarding experience. My wife has been playing for the past four years, and for the last two I’ve had the chance to serve as head coach. In that time, we’ve not only enjoyed the excitement of the game but also built lasting friendships, both on and off the field. We’ve introduced friends to the league and welcomed new ones, creating a real sense of community that makes every season something special. It’s more than softball — it’s about laughter, camaraderie, and being part of a tradition that brings people together.”
As the league looks ahead to its 10th anniversary season, there’s much to celebrate: a decade of memories, friendships, and the joyful spirit of community softball. With anticipation already in the air, next summer promises to be a season to remember.
