East Williston to Honor Veterans with Special Veterans Day Ceremonies
The Village of East Williston will come together on Wednesday, November 11, to honor the courage, service and sacrifices of America's military veterans with a series of special Veterans Day observances.
The day's events will begin at 11:30 a.m. with a Veterans Day ceremony on the Village Green, bringing residents together to recognize and thank the men and women who have served our nation.
At 6 p.m., the Village will host a flag retirement ceremony on the Village Green in coordination with local scouting troops. The ceremony will provide a respectful and meaningful opportunity to retire American flags that are no longer suitable for display, while teaching younger generations the importance of honoring the nation's flag and those who have defended it.
Following the flag retirement ceremony, a special reception will be held at Village Hall to honor members of the recently disbanded Williston Park VFW Post 1688. The gathering will recognize the veterans' years of service, camaraderie and contributions to the local community.
Veterans Day serves as an important reminder of the sacrifices made by those who have worn the nation's uniform and the responsibility of future generations to remember and honor their service.
Residents and families are encouraged to attend the ceremonies, show their appreciation and join the Village in paying tribute to the veterans who have helped protect the freedoms enjoyed today.
The Village invites the entire community to come together in gratitude, remembrance and respect for those who served.
